Quantum science and technology are rapidly advancing on both national and international fronts. Scientists, big tech companies, policymakers, and investors are all striving to become ‘quantum ready.’ The community of stakeholders - from startups to leading research teams - is expanding daily, marked by major breakthroughs and significant investments. We are now in the midst of the second quantum revolution, developing technologies that promise to reshape society as we know it.

Igniting the Quantum Revolution: Shaping Tomorrow Today

Despite growing attention and investment, quantum technology remains largely inaccessible to the wider public. This gap must be closed to ensure that quantum innovations are meaningfully integrated into society. Engaging a broader audience is crucial for embedding this future technology in ways that benefit everyone.

Bridging the Quantum Accessibility Gap

In response, the International Quantum Course officially launched on July 11th, at the closing ceremony of ITU’s AI &amp; Quantum for Good Summit in Geneva during the UN International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. Funded by Quantum Delta NL, developed by a team of experts led by Jim Stolze and launched together with UNICC and ITU, the International Quantum Course is a free online program, that unveils the complexities of quantum mechanics, highlights current developments in quantum technology, and explores its future implications. The course is currently available in Dutch and English with more languages following in the near future.This course offers an open, low-barrier introduction to quantum technology for anyone with internet access. Participants will receive a certificate recognizing their foundational understanding of quantum, as well as an invitation to join the global conversation shaping one of the most transformative technologies of our time.

A consortium of quantum technology companies led by Q*Bird and Single Quantum will develop next-generation industrial quantum cryptography devices. The devices must be ready for certification and deployment in European telecom and enterprise infrastructures. The 5 M€ EU-funded project, called “MDI-QUEEN”, enables a transition to a quantum-safe communication infrastructure and strengthens the European ecosystem with a path towards the impending quantum internet.Quantum networking and quantum key distribution (QKD) are ways to keep data communication secure in a future where computers become ever more powerful. This is a new and growing field that has the potential to become a strong European technology market. Moreover, the EU Commission Cyber Resilience Act wants to provide European users with a safe cyberspace environment with a high level of security, while also stimulating the growth of the EU economy by adopting solutions of EU providers.
